At steel city martial arts we are proud of the curriculum we teach. It is some of the most diverse training that you will receive in the a rea. Our form of karate, called tai jutsu-gen karate is a self defense centered training style, considered a mixed martial art. It's origins can be traced back to tai jutsu, jissen and kenka karate. You will learn the traditional kicks and punches, but incorporated into your studies will be control and manipulation techniques designed for self defense. This style of karate can be mastered by women and men of all ages, challenging enough to get you into peak physical condition.

Improved health and weight loss through exercise is not news to anyone. But finding a dojo that can keep you motivated to work out is news. Here at Steel City you will be motivated not only by the enthusiasm of our instructors, but by your own personal progress. You will see the difference in how you feel, look and perceive your self. Others will notice the difference. You will know that you feel more confident by the self defense skills that you learn. The support of the other students in the dojo will make you feel like you are right at home.
What About Children?
Children our a big part of our school. We are proud to be role models for the students in our dojo. Our instructors teach because they love the sport and enjoy passing their knowledge on to a new generation. The best gift that you can give to your children is security. During the process of learning karate, many life lessons are learned. Confidence, how to deal with confrontation, a sense of accomplishment and a sense that can handle anything. A confident child who has trained with us will not carry themselves "like a victim", because they don't feel like a victim. They don't only learn to fight, they learn how not to fight.
